Tango has the best shoes ~ for women, they’re just so gorgeous! Through the evolution of the dance, tango involves a lot of pivoting on the ball of your feet, and if your shoes grab the floor, you could injure your knees. So the rule is to avoid rubber soled shoes. If you dance on very slippery floors, suede soles offer a bit of grip. For women, heels of 2 to 4 inches create the best line, while men can choose from a variety of dance shoes with no or low heels. The primary reason to wear Tango shoes on the dance floor is for balance. If you are wearing the proper shoes, even if you have balance problems, tango shoes will provide a better foundation and, therefore, better balance. Tango shoes are available in every material you can think of. Some wear better and are more comfortable than others. Leather is my favorite choice for tango shoes. It’s hard-wearing and will last a long time, but it also softens well over time and molds itself to the exact shape of your foot. Ordinary shoes just aren’t built to take the punishment that dance shoes take, so consider proper Tango shoes a worthy investment.
