Monday night’s episode of ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” featured the top 5 couples, each performing two dances and fighting for a spot in the finals. In my opinion, we will see Mya and Dmitry, hands down, in the finals and I predict they will go all the way. I believe, if the fans get it right, we should see Aaron and Karina and Donny and Kym in the semi-finals as well, although it is evident the judges seriously favor Joanna and Derek. Kelly and Louis are consistently so adorable it would be a shame to see them eliminated. Each of tonight’s excellent dances showed quality, energy and original choreography, sending Mya and Dmitry to the top of the leader board with the season’s first 30 and a total judges score of 59. Tied for last place are Aaron and Karina and Donny and Kym with a judges score of 50 each. Stay tuned for tomorrow night’s results.

Tonight’s ”Dancing With The Stars” week 7 featured 7 competing couples in a dance-off. Following individual dances, Team Paso and Team Tango took the floor consecutively. The judges unanimously preferred Team Tango who found their “mojo”, and were rewarded with a score of 28 out of 30 possible points, while Team Paso received scored a 24, despite having four strong couples. Joanna and Derek lead the pack with a total individual score of 55 out of 60, while Mark (aka Kung Foo Panda) and Anna (standing in for Professional Partner, Lacey, out with the flu) hover at the bottom with 43 points. Black Latin Skirt and the Tango Zone

Tango is about the communication and connection between two people. One does not have to know all the fancy steps to dance a beautiful Tango. Most women prefer well executed, simple steps rather than poorly executed, complicated patterns. I remember an evening some time ago and one dance in particular with a young man I had never met. We danced some basic Tango movements, things that beginners learn when they first learn to dance. But it was one of those times when I was sure of the saying, “It’s not the steps, but the motion”, and I realized it was an absolutely memorable dance because it took me to a dreamy place, where time stands still and you never want it to end. To this day, I can recall the way we danced, and I can recall exactly what I was wearing. It bore an uncanny resemblance to this Black Tango Skirt, which highlighted some of my “assets”. You can find your own dreamy tango skirt at Tango Rouge Ballroom Dancewear, and prepare for a lovely evening in the Tango Zone.

Gold Medal Swimmer Ejected

Gorgeous legs and abs, ambition enough to float a boat, and a true desire to excel, but the Olympic swimmer just couldn’t pull it off. Although she wanted to stay, it just wasn’t in the stars to escape elimination from “Dancing With The Stars” for Olympic Gold Medalist, Natalie Coughlin. She and her professional partner, Alex Mazo, earned 22 points out of a possible 30 from the judges for their Paso Doble on Monday night, but their performance wasn’t enough to entice the viewers’ votes. Historically, Olympic athletes do very well in the TV dancing competition, but hers is the earliest exit yet for an Olympic Gold Medalist since the show’s inception in 2005. Next week, the nine remaining couples will dance the waltz, jitterbug and a mambo marathon.

Mazar Eliminated While DeLay Withdraws from Week 3 “Dancing With The Stars”

Tonight was the end for Tom DeLay, as he left “Dancing With The Stars” competition due to stress fractures in both feet sustained during strenuous dancing. Although he actually made it through the elimination despite low judges scores following a respectable samba on Monday night, his injuries prevented him from continuing in the competition. Despite his exit, DWTS proceeded with tonight’s scheduled elimination, determined by the combined totals of the viewers votes and the judges scores. With four couples in jeopardy, it was Debi Mazar with professional partner Maksim Chmerkovsky who were ousted tonight. Mazar suffered from a lack a fan support due to her samba on Monday night. And the judges wanted more from her dance, as well. “It was like cooking,” head judge Len Goodman said. “You had all the ingredients but it lacked the flavour.” 11 couples remain out of the original 16. Next week, who will be safe and who will have to go?

You can say all you want about how fun ballroom dancing is, and I will agree with you all day long. The pure and simple fact is that many hours of preparation in the form of practice is required to achieve the level of success you desire. And of course because dance is art, you will want to look the part. Choose a long skirt for the smooth dances like waltz, fox trot, tango, quick step, but you will want to practice in a shorter skirt when rehearsing the rhythm dances such as Cha-Cha, Swing, Rhumba, Samba, Mambo, etc. This divine fringed top and skirt are sure to enhance your hours of practice, and will serve as icing on the cake for your basic practice wardrobe. It can be yours at Tango Rouge Ballroom Dancewear!
